From the Desk of Pastor Kevin
"But the Fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit." Galatians 5:22-25 (NIV)
This summer we have been working through this passage of scripture and looking at each of the Fruit of the Spirit. This past week was on "Kindness." I enjoyed speaking on this quality and sharing what I believe it means to have kindness as part of our lives. The 3 key points were:
1) Showing Kindness Means Loving Christ
2) Seeing Kindness is Seeing with the Eyes of Christ
3) Sharing Kindness is Being Christ
In the conclusion I told an interesting story of a teacher who was touched and motivated by a broadcaster's summation of his report. He concluded with "Another random act of senseless violence." The teacher got an idea. He gave an unusual assignment to his students. They were to do something out of the ordinary to help someone, and then write an essay about the experience. It turned into... "Today, I will commit one random act of senseless kindness...Will You?"
So how about it? Will you commit a random act of kindness today? Ask Jesus to give you an opportunity to show His love by being kind to someone!
Have a GREAT week,
Pastor Kevin
